Government Relations
Government Relations liaises with elected and appointed government officials and community leaders, advises the President and Senior Staff on all government activities impacting the College, and keeps the College up to date on current legislation and issues critical to higher education.
This area also coordinates the College’s legislative agenda; works directly with government officials and agencies to expand high-impact programming in both neighboring communities and citywide; and liaises with the city and statewide organizations, advocacy groups, and members of the Barnard community who want to engage with the public sector.
Government Relations also serves as a key point of contact for regional businesses, industry groups, institutions, residents, and community partners, including but not limited to higher education, nonprofits, community boards, and neighborhood associations.
As of 2023, Barnard’s campus in Morningside Heights is in the 13th Congressional District, the 30th State Senate District, the 69th Assembly District, and the 7th City Council District.
